7月2日、デンマークのコペンハーゲンで行われるVCT 2022 : Stage2 Mastersのグループステージ振り分けが公開された。
グループA
・OpTic Gaming (NA 2位)
・Guild Esports（EMEA 3位）
・LOUD（BR 1位）
・KRÜ Esports（LATAM 2位)
グループB
・FunPlus Phoenix（EMEA 2位）
・XERXIA （APAC 2位）
・DRX（KR 1位）
・Northeption（JP1位）
日本代表 NortheptionはグループBに配置。初戦ではStage1でZETA DIVISIONとも対戦したDRXとの対戦となった。Stage1では優勝候補とも言われたチームとの対戦。試合はすべてBo3、ダブルエリミネーション方式で行われ、2回敗北した時点で終了となる。
同グループのFunPlus PhoenixはStage1 EMEA地域で圧倒的な力で優勝を果たし、Masters1進出を決めたものの、情勢的に出場ができなかったチーム。今回もまた、少なからず影響を受けるとされているが、出場自体はできるだろうと予想されている。XERXIAも何度も世界大会へ進出しているチームであり、毎回何かしらの傷跡を残していくチームだ。
グループAにはMasters1決勝カードのOpTic GamingとLOUDが配置。そこに追加でGuild EsportsとKRÜ Esportsが配置された。OpTicとLOUDは一度勝利すればリベンジ戦となり、王者としては負けられないところがあるだろう。グループAにも注目してみていく必要がある。
試合は日本時間 7月10日 22時から行われる。勝利した場合でも、敗北した場合でも次の試合は7月12日となる。
